Transferring ownership of your business

If you’re selling your business to a new owner, this article walks through the steps to ensure a smooth transition for you and your guests.

If you’re selling your campground or transferring ownership, we’re here to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

This guide walks you through what to do before, during, and after an ownership change so bookings, payments, and operations continue without interruption.


Step 1: Notify Our Team

Before anything else, please contact our support team to let us know about the upcoming ownership change. You can reach us at support@poweredbypark.com

Please include:

  • New owner’s contact information
    • Name
    • Email address
    • Phone number
  • Transition date
    • The date the new owner will officially take over operations

Even if the new owner is planning to use another reservation platform, it’s helpful for us to get in touch to facilitate a smooth transfer of guest information.


Step 2: What Will Happen Next

We’ll work with the new owners to update several important items in your account.


1. Set Up a New Stripe Account

To continue accepting payments, the new owner must connect their own Stripe account.

  • This allows payouts to go to the new owner’s bank account
  • This step is required to keep online bookings active

If a new Stripe account is not connected by the transition date, the online booking system will become inactive until this is completed.


2. Update Contact Information

Contact information can be updated in the general settings page to ensure your guests can reach the new owners. A few examples would include:

  • Email address
    • Notification emails, which are notified when a new booking is made
  • Phone number
  • Business name (if changing)
    • We can also update the web address for the booking page, to match the new name

3. Add New Users & Remove Old Access

Admin accounts for the new owners can be created in the user settings page.

  • The new owner should be invited as an admin user
  • Once the transition is complete, access will be removed from old accounts.

This ensures a clean hand-off between the old and new management teams.


4. Update or Transfer the Website

Your business’s website will need to be transferred separately. The new owner has two options:

Option A: Keep the existing website

  • The new owner will need credentials to edit and maintain the website

Option B: Create a new website

  • A new website can be created from scratch
  • Your google business profile and listings on other sites should be updated to reflect the new address

5. Review Pricing, Policies, and Site Setup

Ownership changes often come with updates to how the campground operates. We’ll work with the new owner to review:

  • Site pricing and features
  • Rules & policies
  • Other changes to the admin dashboard or booking page

This helps ensure everything is set up correctly moving forward.

Once the transition is complete, you’re all set!
